Political factors

The polictians in the UK make the important decisions that affect the way businesses operate. They make changes to education, health care and industrys. Also as we are in the European Union this also effects what changes are made in the UK. They make decisions on different laws and regulations to either benefit the some groups or the majority. Although, they effect some groups badly.

Political Stability
These periods favour businesses. As a political party is elected to office every five years. When this is done they create a manifesto as too how they plan to change the system. These plans are made available for public viewing, which then allows businesses to plan around these plans.
Jaguar Land Rover would be influenced by these plans as they would need to keep up to date with the ever changing scenerio. As if they wanted to expand an already existing factory, although didnt have the funds to. Although, if they changed the manifesto to lower tax levels on selling cars to boost the car industry. They would then be able to go through with there plans of expansion because they would now have more disposable income to deal with. However, this could impact them in the opposite way aswell.
Bedford Borough Council could also be impacted in different ways by political factors. As, if the newly elected government decides to cut public spending. This would means Bedford Borough would recieve less money, meaning they would have to make cuts in the area, which could have effects on the community as a whole.

Taxation

Taxes are imposed by the government and the local government. the government has control over income taxes and local government over business rates they offer. This helps them raise money, control society and discourage activities.
This would effect JLR as if they decided to raise environmental tax or fuel consumption tax. The company and users of the car would be effected. as they would have to pay more in tax for these cars. which might make them lead to become more fuel efficient and maybe even consider bringing out a new car.
Bedford Borough could be impacted because if they decided to raise taxes. This would benefit them as they would recieve more money to invest into the community and allows them to make the changes they wanted to make.

Legal Factors

Companies have to operate within the laws that are constructed. failure to do this could end in fines or punishment. Therefore businesses try hard to work within the guidlines.

Competition Law

This is a law that the goverment has introduced so that one company can not dominate the market. These then creates fair competition within the market and so everyone can progress.
Jaguar Land Rover would be impacted by this as they would have to make sure they do not dominate the market. otherwise, it could end in punishment or fines to pay. which could then reflect badly on the company as people may not like to be considered as using a car make that works illegally.
Bedford Borough could be indirectly impacted by this as they will need to check the companys they work with before they do. As they could be illegally dominating the market which could result in the council getting punished for working along side of them.

Company Law

There are rules in which business have to follow in starting up there business, how they should present thre accounts. Liability is an example of this for there are two types limited and unlimited.
Jaguar Land Rover would have to be careful that other companys do not try to sell goods under the name as a fake, as this could lead to bad reputation for the company as they are reciving fake goods.
Bedford Borough would have to make sure they post the correct figures public so they do no mislead others in what they are doing. This could lead to punishment or reputation lost.

Social Factors

Over time changes take place in society in which have an impact on businesses.

Religion
As in britain there are many different religion groups. All of them have different views and values. These then have an effect on what they chose to consume and how they behave in there workplace.
JLR have to be make sure they are aware of there beliefs and the rules. For example, if they have christians they need to make sure that they do no make them work on sundays as sundays are religious holidays for christians to go church.
Same goes for Bedford Borough. For example if muslims work there, they need to make sure there allowed to pray throughout the day at certain times.

Attitude to work

This influence the importance between the relationship of a business and its employees. Other aspects include the care in which with which employees do their work, their attitude to the customers and relationships with the employer.
JLR could be impacted because they may choose to take on apprenticeships so if there attitude towards work is good that will mean productivity will increase, although opposite.
Bedford Borough employers could be effected by this as if they do not have a good attitude towards the way in which they operate. The local community could be effected by this because if they do not make the right decisions they could be badly impacted.
